Twitter advanced search: the operator cheat sheet, and how to turn a search into an alert

Open @Xanguard_bot See pricing

Twitter (X) advanced search lets you filter tweets by account, date, language, engagement and media using operators such as from:, since:, until:, min_faves: and filter:. Fill in x.com/search-advanced or type the operators in the search bar while signed in. Updated October 2026. Want a search to alert you? Run it in Telegram.

How to use Twitter advanced search

With the form

  1. Sign in to X on the web and open x.com/search-advanced.
  2. Fill in the fields you need: words, exact phrase, any of these words, none of these words, hashtag, language, accounts (from, to, mentioning), engagement minimums and a date range.
  3. Press Search. X writes the matching operators into the search bar, so you can copy them and reuse the query.

By typing operators

  1. Type the words you want, then add operators separated by spaces: from:nasa moon since:2026-01-01.
  2. Use quotes for an exact phrase, OR (capitals) for either, a minus to exclude, and parentheses to group.
  3. Switch to the Latest tab to see matches newest first.

On mobile the advanced menu often does not appear, so typed operators are the dependable way. Search needs a signed-in account (see search without an account).

Twitter search operators and filters

Operators below were checked against the community reference and 2026 guides, and the main ones are confirmed by several sources. X does not publish a full list, so anything marked "reported unreliable" should be tested before you rely on it.

Reported unreliable or removed

Sources disagree on these, so treat them as unverified: near:, within: and geocode: (some 2026 guides say location search stopped working because X no longer attaches place data, others still list them), plus source: and card_name:. There is no min_followers: filter in X search. Very long queries also hit a cap on the number of operators, so keep them short.

Search finds tweets that still exist. For a tweet that was deleted, see how to see deleted tweets.

How do I search tweets by date?

Combine since: and until: with a term or a from: handle, for example from:elonmusk since:2026-03-01 until:2026-03-08. since: includes the date; until: stops before it, so use the next day to include a full day. The Date range boxes in the advanced form write the same operators. Switch to Latest to read in order.

Honest limit: search is not a full archive. Some old tweets may not come back, so for old posts also try the Wayback Machine.

How do I search Twitter without an account?

Mostly you cannot. Reports say X has required a login to see search results since 2023, and logged-out visitors get a sign-in wall instead of tweets. A free account is enough to use every operator on this page. Some single tweet and profile links may still open without logging in, but that changes often and is not search. For third-party viewers, see Nitter alternatives.

How do I search from a specific account on Twitter?

Type from:handle without the @, then add words or dates: from:vitalik ethereum since:2026-01-01. Add -filter:replies for original posts only, or to:handle to see replies sent to the account.

Turn any search into a real-time Telegram alert

X shows you results when you run a search; it does not notify you of new ones, as far as we could find. Xanguard Search Alerts re-runs your query for you and sends only new matches to Telegram, a REST API or a WebSocket. Plain words, quoted phrases, #hashtags, $cashtags and X search operators such as OR, -word, lang:, min_faves:, -filter:replies and from: all work, so the queries above can be pasted in as they are.

  1. Open @Xanguard_bot, go to Add-ons, choose Search Alerts and pay $50 in SOL.
  2. Add up to 20 queries.
  3. Pick a check interval: 1, 5, 10 or 30 minutes, 1 hour or 6 hours.
  4. New matches arrive with the matched query, author, text and a link.

When search is not enough

  1. You need seconds, not minutes. Search Alerts checks as often as once a minute. For tweets from accounts you know, track the account with a keyword filter: ~200 ms median detection on paid plans, free filters on every plan.
  2. X search leaves tweets out. If a miss would cost money, watch the account itself rather than the search.
  3. Text in images is not matched, and Xanguard takes SOL only and does not deliver to Discord.
  4. You want to compare tools first. See Twitter keyword alert tools compared, or Nitter alternatives if you want to read X without the app.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use Twitter advanced search?

Sign in, open x.com/search-advanced, fill in the fields and press Search, or type operators straight into the search bar, for example from:nasa since:2026-01-01 min_faves:100. The form just writes the operators for you. On mobile the form is often missing, so typing operators is the reliable route.

Does Twitter still have advanced search?

Yes. X still offers advanced search at x.com/search-advanced and still reads typed operators such as from:, since:, until:, lang:, min_faves: and filter:. Some older operators, notably location ones like near:, are reported as unreliable, so test before depending on them.

How do I search tweets by date?

Add since:YYYY-MM-DD and until:YYYY-MM-DD to a search with a term or from: handle, for example from:elonmusk since:2026-03-01 until:2026-03-08. since: is inclusive and until: is exclusive. The Date range fields in x.com/search-advanced write the same operators.

How do I search Twitter without an account?

Mostly you cannot. Since 2023 X search asks logged-out visitors to sign in, and the results are not shown. A free account is enough. Some individual tweet and profile links can still open logged out, but that varies and is not search.

How do I search from a specific account on Twitter?

Type from:handle in the search bar, without the @, and add a word to narrow it, for example from:vitalik crypto. Add since: and until: to limit the dates, or -filter:replies to see only original posts. to:handle finds replies sent to that account.

Is Twitter search broken?

Sometimes results look incomplete. X search is not an exhaustive archive and can leave tweets out, and logged-out visitors see nothing. If a miss would cost you, track the account itself instead of relying on search.

What are the Twitter search operators for engagement?

min_faves:N, min_retweets:N and min_replies:N return tweets with at least N likes, reposts or replies. Put a minus in front (-min_faves:500) to set a maximum. Note it is min_faves, not min_likes.

Can I get an alert when a Twitter search has new results?

X has no built-in alert for a search that we could find, you re-run it yourself. Xanguard Search Alerts runs X search queries for you (20 for $50 a month, every 1 minute to 6 hours) and sends only new matches to Telegram, REST or WebSocket.
