Disclosure: Xanguard publishes this page. X API facts come from X's developer pricing and rate-limit pages, checked 5 October 2026; links are at the end. Where the X API is the better choice, we say so.
For real-time monitoring of accounts you choose, Xanguard is the simpler and usually cheaper option; for posting, search, history and first-party access, the official X API is the one to use. Xanguard streams tweets, deleted tweets, profile changes, new followers and follow or unfollow events over one WebSocket, with ~200 ms median detection published live, from $49 a month for 50 accounts. The X API now bills per read ($0.005 per post), gives you 1 stream connection, and leaves follow, deletion and profile tracking for you to build.

What tweets cost per month
To make the X API numbers concrete we used real posting rates: across the accounts Xanguard customers track, an account that posted in the last week averaged about 7 posts a day, and the busiest tenth posted 16 or more. We assume each streamed post is billed as one post read at $0.005.
| Watchlist | Posts per month | X API (post reads only) | Xanguard Starter (tweets + deletions) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 typical accounts (7/day) | 10,500 | about $53 | $49 |
| 50 busy accounts (16/day) | 24,000 | about $120 | $49 |
| 250 typical accounts | 52,500 | about $263 | $229 |
| 1,000 typical accounts | 210,000 | about $1,050 | $849 |
| 50 quiet accounts (1/day) | 1,500 | about $8 | $49 |
The honest read: for tweets alone, the X API is in the same price range as Xanguard, and it is cheaper for a list of quiet accounts. The gap opens on busy crypto accounts, and it opens further once you need follows, deletions or profile changes, because on the X API those are re-reads you pay for, are rate-limited, and have to engineer.
The follow-tracking example
Say you want to know when 50 KOLs follow a new account. On the X API there is no follow event, so you re-read each following list and compare. At 300 following-list reads per 15 minutes per app, each of 50 accounts can be checked about every 2.5 minutes; for 250 accounts, about every 12.5 minutes. Each account returned costs $0.010. On Xanguard, the same signal is an event on the WebSocket (Enterprise tier, $249 a month for 50 accounts), and the Telegram version, Follow Watch, alerts new follows in a median of 284 ms from $15 a month.
Which should you use?
Choose the official X API if you need to post, reply or send DMs; search or look up older tweets; watch more than 1,000 accounts through keyword rules; pay by card; or if your compliance team requires first-party data from X.
Choose Xanguard if you build a trading terminal, bot or alert product around specific accounts and care about speed you can verify, deletions with their text, follows and profile edits, a flat bill and no developer-account overhead. See the X feed for trading terminals and bots and published latency compared.
Use both if you post from your product and monitor accounts at the same time: the X API for writes and search, Xanguard for the real-time feed.

Frequently Asked Questions
For tweets alone from typical accounts, the two cost about the same: at X's $0.005 per post read, 50 accounts posting 7 times a day is about $53 a month, against $49 for Xanguard Starter. Xanguard gets cheaper as accounts get busier (50 accounts at 16 posts a day is about $120 on the X API) and includes deleted-tweet events, while follows, profile changes and published latency are where the difference grows.
X's developer pricing page (checked 5 October 2026) lists pay-per-use credits only: $0.005 per post read, $0.010 per user read, $0.010 per account returned from following or follower lists, $0.015 per post created ($0.20 with a link). Reads of the same resource are deduplicated within a UTC day, post reads are capped at 3 million a month before Enterprise, and new developers get $20 in credits after adding a card.
X offers a filtered stream on pay-per-use access with 1 connection and 1,000 rules per app, but publishes no latency figure. Xanguard publishes ~200 ms median tweet detection with p95 and p99, refreshed hourly at xanguard.tech/speed.
Not as an event. You re-read following lists and compare them yourself, at $0.010 per account returned and 300 following-list reads per 15 minutes per app, so 50 accounts can each be checked about every 2.5 minutes. Xanguard streams follow and unfollow events on its Enterprise tier (from $249 a month for 50 accounts) and alerts new follows in a median of 284 ms on Follow Watch.
Use the X API when you need to post, reply or send DMs, search or look up historical tweets, cover more than 1,000 accounts with keyword rules, pay by card, or need first-party access from X itself. Use Xanguard when you need the fastest published detection on accounts you choose, deletions with their text, follow and profile events, Telegram delivery or a flat monthly price.
No. You get a key from @B2B_Xanguard_bot on Telegram, pay in SOL and connect to the WebSocket. There is no X developer project, app review or rate-limit management on your side.
